【明报专讯】Handy bites are simple, portable snacks which hold delicious fillings. They can be savoury or sweet and are easy to eat without utensils. Perfect for quick meals or sharing with others, they showcase culinary traditions and make eating fun and enjoyable.

■Colombia & Venezuela Arepas

Arepas are traditional cornmeal cakes from Colombia and Venezuela, two countries in South America. They are round, thick cakes made with white or yellow corn dough. After cooking, they are split open and filled with a variety of ingredients such as cheese, meat, beans, avocado or sauces like aji or guacamole. They are a common staple, eaten by families at home, sold on the streets, and enjoyed as a main dish at any meal or on the go.

■Mexico Tacos

Tacos are a traditional dish from Mexico and are one of the dishes most associated with the country. They are made with thin, flexible tortillas, which are flat rounds of dough made from corn or wheat. Tacos can be served flat or folded over and are filled with a variety of ingredients such as grilled meats, beans, cheese or vegetables, and topped with fresh ingredients like cilantro (芫荽), diced onions and lime. They are often served with sauces called salsas, which add flavour and spice. Tacos can be soft or crispy and are commonly enjoyed as street food or in casual meals.

■France Galette

A galette is a traditional French dish which can be sweet or savoury. It has a thin, buttered crust with folded edges which can hold various toppings without being fully enclosed. Common fillings include ham, cheese, eggs, vegetables or fruits like apples and berries. Galettes are similar to cr?pes, another French dish, but their texture is different. Cr?pes are very thin and soft, while galettes are slightly firmer.
